Lake Sakakawea Fishing Report

Current Lake Level 1825.30 msl / holding steady.

I fished Indian Hills across to the intake, over to the beacon, up to the cross and west slides, over to the lucky mound slides for zero fish last week on monday. Did not even mark much for fish but water temps are still pretty warm.

Lake Audubon Fishing Report

I Fished the east end on Wed/Thu and Fri. We caught about 18 walles and kept 11 fish in 3 days from 15 to 21 inches. Most fish were caught in 22-25 feet of water and on crawlers. Some on minnows and leeches. We dragged jigs, and lindy rigs.

Congratulations to Jeff  "Bonzo" Brennan and Sam Rolloff for their win of the 2008 Governors Walleye Cup. Weights were down this year but numbers of fish is good. With the water levels on the increase we are looking at some real fine fishing in the not to distant future. In a couple to 3 years there will be lots of 17-22 in walleye.

Fishing for now is mixed between shallow and deep. All baits are working and so is deep cranks on the east end around the seven sisters.

Lake Audubon Fishing Report

Nothing has changed. The bite on Audubon is fair to good. Some people are finding a good evening bite on the edges of the weeds in 17-20 feet of water. Start trolling spinners tipped with crawlers or leeches to produce more fish. Work the inside or outside of the weeds.

The 7 sisters islands has fish on them also.

Use jigs tipped with minnows or lindy rigs tipped with minnows, leeches or nightcrawlers. Anchor or troll ever so slowly working humps and shorelines. Pitch jigs to the shallow water.

The 6th grade class of Garrison fished Centennial Bay on Monday and for the conditions they did good. There were about 12 boats and they caught about the same in walleyes. The wind blew to 50 causing some bad boat control but it sounds like the walleyes are starting to take off.

Lake is still 95% ice covered. Some spots have open water for shore fishing and you can access the ice for ice fishing in lots of areas. Please use extreme caution.

Douglas, Garrison and Centennial Bays are producing pike and some walleyes. Fish 4-15 feet of water.

Still mostly ice covered, some open water on the north lake, you could launch small boats from shore but watch the ice flow.
